(May 25) — Triumph quickly turned to embarrassment for a group of police officers last week after what they thought was a major drug bust wound up amounting to a routine weeding operation.

Late Thursday night, KRIS-TV reports, police in Corpus Christi, Texas, received a call from a teenager who thought he had seen hundreds of pot plants while biking through a city park. Officers arrived on the scene believing they were dealing with a not-so-secret marijuana farm.

They spent about an hour pulling up, bagging and tagging around 400 plants. But when they took their haul back to the station, tests revealed that it was a common weed called horsemint.

Horsemint bears very little aesthetic similarity to marijuana and lacks the drug’s distinctive odor.

Mike Hughes of marijuana enthusiast magazine High Times suspects police were so excited about the fact they were making a major drug bust that they forgot to check to see if the plants were actually drugs.

“Hysteria and ignorance have long been staples of the war on drugs. However, Corpus Christi police remind us that flat out buffoonery has its place as well,” he wrote.

The officers’ effort wasn’t entirely in vain, however: Since horsemint has a tendency to spread quickly, the cops at least helped spare the park from a troublesome invader.

The estimated street value of the horsemint is $0.

Herbal sex product Volcanic is the latest to make the grade for the sex pill portion of the Partypills website. Mojo and Librex have long been a firm favourite for couples looking to spice things up in the bedroom or for those needling a little help aiding arousal. We are always on the lookout for new and exciting products that do actually work and that we’d be proud to have on our site.

Volcanic ticks all the right boxes and after many glowing reviews and some rather sordid customer satisfaction emails we have decided to retail this product ourselves.

Unlike Mojo and Librex which are offered in his & hers variations Volcanic is aimed mainly at the Men. But that doesn’t mean girls have to miss out, we recommend partnering this up with a Mojo or Librex ‘hers’ to keep you both satisfied and up all night (or in all day)

We’re only too aware of “Viagra email overdose” and don’t believe in the hard sell, our products have a loyal following based on results. I logged onto gmail the other day to check my emails and after weeding through about 30 Viagra/Cock enlarger/Cialis Spam mails I only had 1 or 2 ‘real’ emails. Will have to upgrade my spam settings in future!

We select our sex pills based on three main criteria.

1.	They are tried and tested to work effectively

2.	They are safe

3.	They contain natural ingredients without any side effects (unlike some of the prescription stuff out there!)

If a product fulfills this criteria and isn’t doubling up on products we already sell then we look into bringing it on board.

Volcanic is taken in capsule form and can extend love-making sessions by more than 30 mins. It’s active ingredients include Tongkat Ali and traditional Chinese medicines and when taken 30-40 minutes before getting it on helps give a bigger, strong hard-on and increased arousal. We retail it online or you can purchase wholesale quantities of our products by getting in touch to discuss your situation. orders@partypills.com

Macbooks, Party Pills. Ok, so legal highs and geeking out aren’t exactly interconnected but the creative department @ Partypills.com is stoked that the waiting is finally over. And as well as partying it up at the clubs, pubs n parties we do feel that our customers are a fairly stylish and tech savvy bunch most of the time (Except that hick from Western Australia who keeps calling and leaving us on speakerphone while he milks his goats or whatever that weird sound in the background was, no offence Jed) Anywho i digress, back to the coveted Apple release. After passing up on the opportunity to buy the Macbook Pro through my friends sister to receive a free iTouch during last months back to school cut-off date, I like the rest of the world have been waiting anxiously for this new laptop to hit the stores. There’s been a zillion fake releases, ‘official leaks’ and similar rumours saying it’s coming this week, last week, in time for the third lunar months beginning when the solar orbits are in synch etc. Enough of the crap, this ain’t the apocalypse.

So after waiting patiently the guts of it is:

It’s been released worldwide (well at least in my New Zealand, Australia, America and the UK)

The 13″ variants are still rocking the old Core 2 Duo, boo (but to their credit 10hours battery)

The 15″ comes in two flavours Core i5 and Core i7 (17″ in the i7 only)

The graphics cards are GeForce320 (13″) / Nvidea GeForce GT 330 256mb/512mb (15″&17″)

The max stock standard RAM is 4 gig

Not quite an exhaustive view but you get the idea, pretty decent overall. For those of you still with questions here’s a more indepth Macbook Review

I had brought into a few of the rumours that the higher end models would be shipping with 8gigs Ram standard so was a bit dissapointed. I also thought the graphics would be tipping in at 1gig by now but some of my techy friends seem to think that this new 512mb is far superiour to the old model. I’m making a purchase this week so time will tell.

My major decision now is whether to get the 15″ or the 17″ model and if I can stomach a NZD$700 upgrade for 4 more gigs of RAM muscle (8 would be ace!) I’ll be lugging it round Europe in a month so portability is key but the 17″ is going to be much better for in the field video editing at gigs parties and festivals this summer decisions decisions..

Oh and I am excited/nervous to see how this will handle native AVCHD editing in CS4, fingers crossed!

While I’m waffling I must give props to the fantastic Herbal highs team Partypills.com whom allow me to scope the internet looking at cool gadgets, attend festivals and make random video’s for their site and youtube, I can think of worse ways to make a living. If you’ve never come across Party pills I suggest you give them a try, they’re legal worldwide and add a great boost to a night out. *sales pitch over

Have a goodun.

I would like to state from the get-go that Partypills.com does not want to have anything to do with this risky drug and that NONE of our products contain any of this substance. We are involved in the safe party pills scene and as part of our harm minimisation strategy we feel an obligation to inform people of the dangers in dabbling with this little known chemical composition that is causing such concern worldwide.

My heart goes out to the recent families that have lost loved ones to this dangerous drug. Last Week in the UK Angie Kiltie’s son Jordan died after a night out and his death is attributed to the mephedrone he had taken in the hours leading up to his passing. Mephedrone had also been taken by Louis Wainwright, 18, and Nicholas Smith, 19, before they died in Scunthorpe, Yorkshire less than a month ago.

It is usually distributed in a white or yellowish powder form and snorted although there are reports of it being taken in pill or capsule form. I have even heard of it being passed off as ecstasy (mdma) & Unscrupulous shops and websites advertise the product as plant feeder ‘not fit for human consumption’. With side effects including headaches, psychosis, palpitations, nausea, high blood pressure, a burning throat, and nose bleeds it’s a wonder anyone is risking their health and wellbeing with such a clearly unsafe product. Mephedrone is a class C drug in New Zealand and while it is still legal to sell it in the UK as a plant feeder I am hopeful that it will be classified very soon.

We understand that people want to have a good time and we aren’t here to tell you what you can and can’t do but we do hope that you do a bit of research when selecting a party pill or get high product. Most people do their research when buying a house a new car or even a new mobile phone so we think it’s only fair that you put at least the same or preferably a little more effort into your health and wellbeing.

Team Partypills

We were trying to decide between Melbourne and Sydney and ended up settling for Sydney as a meeting spot for a group of us to meet up from different parts of Australasia. Friends that hit the Melbourne one had to dodge halestorms so I was pretty happy to be enjoying the sunshine and blueskies on our day out in Sydney.

Based on Bondi beach we made the most of the settings and kicked back on the beach, did some extreme shopping and devised new and exciting ways to enjoy the vast amounts of duty-free liquor we had acquired. The beer isn’t cheap in Oz so to take the sting out of things we stocked up on mixers and prepared to get the party started. We were all in town for the Friday night and with Future music the next day the sensible thing would have been to have a quiet one in anticipation of the big event.
Of course that would have been the sensible thing, we instead decided to have a wee house party and make a fairly substantial dent in the duty free not to mention the odd party pill or related product Head’s slightly hazy the next day we decided to hit the ground running with a few Future themed cocktails to rebalance the alcohol equilibrium.
By the time we’d had a few drinks and realised that every taxi minivan in town was over the other side of Sydney and we’d have to bus it was almost 3pm! So we hit the party a little later than I’d have like and the place was buzzing by the time we arrived. There were a few party goers that had peaked too soon but for the most part the crowd was fairly well behaved. I did see an electronic music festival first, a dancefloor brawl that would look more at home at an AC/DC concert and some guy staggered past me with what looked like a broken nose and face/shirt soaked in blood! Anyway we won’t dwell on the dodgyness, the festival was mean!

I spent most of my day in the tent and was entertained by Deutschland DJ’s Booka Shade and the party machine Sven Vath whom I hear was up to his usual antics this time round with all night house parties following the Perth gig.
John Digweed also dropped some sweet beats in the tent.
The other stages didn’t get too much of my attention. I ventured across to the main for Franz Ferdinand, despite feeling they were way out of place at this festival they did get a good ol’ crowd sing-a-long going ‘take me oooout’

I was pretty disappointed with the sound on the two main stages, you had to be front row centre to get any real volume and the bass was definitely lacking. Empire of the sun pulled a good crowd but wasn’t the blow away show I thought they’d be.
Having seen Prodigy last year @ Glasto I knew they’d rock the show, pity they didn’t bring the same speaker stacks that blasted the UK crowd.

I missed Boyz Noise and Spankrock but apart from that I was pretty happy with my effort and had an awesome day out, will be heading in earlier next time to suss the venue out and check a few of the up n comers. We all crashed pretty early Saturday night but met up with a few more fellow kiwis’ Sunday for a final night of calamity in the Cross.
We had a camera handy and managed to record a few vid’s in between dancing

If you made it this year we would love to hear your experiences!

We headed out early Friday morning and with rain the night before and some grey clouds scattering the sky friday morning I was mentally preparing myself for a 3 day mudfest.
Alas unlike Glastonbury this festival turned on the sun and by the time we had finally put up our tent and started on the obligatory reward, an icy cold beer we were already feeling a warm glow. The entire weekend was blue skies, sunshine and colourful people. It was my first time to attend and I can’t believe I hadn’t made it along to one earlier.
It is a stunning reserve with woodlands and a gorgeous swimming beach as well as an icy lagoon to clean off the salt and drop the body temp a degree or two before getting amongst it.

Friday night had some of the bigger names at the festival fronting the mainstage.
Lupe Fiasco busted out some hip hop hits and to my surprise at times heavy rock riffs. Rumours has it he’s involved in post-punk band Japanese Cartoon and with a fair part of his show sounding suitably heavy I wouldn’t dismiss this speculation. A man with a finger in many pies he’s also in ‘Child Rebel Soldiers’ a hip hop supergroup with Kanye and Pharell. Lupe didn’t disappoint and had people singin’ along to his catchier numbers ‘Superstar’ and skateboarding love song ‘Kick Push.

Minuit and Basement Jaxx got their electronic groove on after Lupe and had us party people bouncing about. Main stage was done and dusted around 2am and the Rum Shack was the last option for a late night liquor fix with a side serve of bass heavy vibrations. It seemed like a slightly early end to the evening but with another 2 days of festivities to go it was probably a well thought out option to wrap the night up.
The rest of the weekend was just as awesome, up and comers Six60 blew me away on Saturday avo with their mix among other styles reggae & dnb, think katchafire mixed with Shapeshifter and a pinch of tiki taane and your getting an idea of their sound. I had to sneak over to Doc Westie if for no other reason than to check out his moustache-mullet, he dropped some dancy remixes like Pink Floyd and Nirvana which the crowd was lapping up
My pic for the Saturday night was the Aussie vocal wizard Dub FX. He essentially crafted his whole set using a microphone and a loop/effects device which he sang, beatboxed and freestyled through to layer sounds and loops to make Dubstep & Hip Hop styled tracks.. He’s definitely got his own groove and it was great for him to share it with us, I recommend checking his video to see what I’m talking about. His girlfriend Flower Fairy busted out a cuisine commentary which was entertaining and he had a good friend whose name I didn’t quite catch throwing down some insanely fast freestyles.

Yes there were amazing bands and Dj’s but What I loved about Splore was that it was about more than the music It was family friendly and had a very low munter casualty rate. There were art trails, sculptures, installations and early morning tai-chi & yoga classes on the beach. I even saw a blushing bride and caught the tail end of a wedding service. The food was good tasty tucker, Scallops and Prawns kept me nourished for a good portion of the weekend and there was a sustainable strand to the festival with partygoers encouraged to share their food rather than throw it out and to use recyclable containers . Despite minimal musical experience I even found myself jamming on a wooden Xylophone with a bunch of newfound friends and playing some knobs/switches in a giant tardis type contraption that was apparently rigged up to live trigger samples from Ableton live.

There was so much to see and do and I know that I didn’t get around all of it but there’s always the next Splore which is set to become a regular experience on my social calendar. If you made it along I’d love to hear your stories, if you didn’t there’s always next time!

Legal alternative to Marijuana, Tropical Explosion was recently reviewed by one of our customers Ken who volunteered this review for us to share with you

After having smoked marijuana for over 2 decades I was asked to try out the new Legal Weed Tropical Explosion smoking product from Partypills and was very surprised by the potency of this product.
I have tried a number of other legal alternatives to marijuana and I have to say that this new stuff is dynamite and comparable in potency to the stronger strains of weed such as White Widow .
The consistency of the product is more similar to weed in that it is not like other legal smokes that are more like coffee grounds. This has a fluffy cotton consistency and makes it burn a lot better and doesn’t taste or smell like dentists like a number of other legal highs I have tried in the past.
After the first few puffs it hit me straight away and was almost exactly the same effect as smoking weed .One small single paper joint is all that was needed to knock my socks off and put me on the verge of throwing a whitey for almost an hour ,it really did take me by surprise. The effect lasted a long time and I still felt stoned after 2 to 3 hours which is the same length of time for normal weed.
I would say that weight for weight because of the fluffy consistency of the product makes it stronger than higher strength weed such as white widow or AK47 ,the high is pretty much exactly the same but with an added bonus of not feeling like a zombie when you wake up the next morning which is usually the case with weed. But also for those who have to watch out for random drug testing this is a god send.
The second time I tried Tropical Explosion the high was a little less severe as the first time.I think maybe because my body had become used to it but the high was still very strong and lasted just as long as the first time.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a strong relaxing high and especially to seasoned veterans of weed looking for a good alternative to what they are used to.And given the fluffy consistency of the product it will give a few extra joints for the same weight.

Penny (P) How long have you been rocking crowds & how did you come across DJn as a creative outlet?
Disko Diva (D) Ha-ha Rocking Crowds?! Interesting choice of words. I have been rocking crowds all my life!! My dance moves are somewhat mock-able… (Laughs) I have been DJn though for about 5 years, I know it sounds cliché but I have always LOVED music. It used to be a big part of my life dancing around the living room to my mums 45’s when I was a wee lass right through to dancing around the decks while I’m DJn. DJn was never a definitive goal of mine before I started, more of a pipe dream, but they do say when you dream of something enough it finds its way to you.

(P) Worst thing to happen whilst you were playing a gig?
(D) The worst thing to happen while playing a gig… To be honest there isn’t really anything that bad that can happen. I mean music stops from anything to technical fault to a drunken clubber leaning on equipment but at the end of the day its party time & dancing & throwing energy around the club is what it’s all about! There’s not a lot that can go irreparably wrong!

(P) How do you find your tunes? With the digital revolution well under way do you fish through Beatport or do you still manage to get down to your local store?
(D) When I left NZ to the warmer shores of Australia I packed my vinyl & turntables away into storage… This was really the end of the analog era for the Diva. Not having any turntables limited the need (thank god for the bank balance too) to visit the store & sift tirelessly through the vinyl. Now I get all of my tunes online. Whether they are promo lists, beatport etc or unreleased bootlegs. Even though the fishing around is on line you can still lose hours searching for the ultimate new killer dance floor anthem.

(P) Where did you welcome in 2010?
(D) The welcoming of 2010 for me was such an unreal occasion; I put on a party with a very close friend of mine, Disko Love, at Trench Bar in Auckland, NZ. The line up was both of my favourite DJs from NZ, DJ Lucas & Queensland, Rayne Fouche & myself. I also was lucky enough to play the midnight set (11pm-1am) at one of my favourite residencies from before I moved to Oz, Degree, right in the heart of the viaduct. It was pumping!

(P) Up and coming producers you think will bust out in a big way this year?
(D) It’s amazing the progression music has made since I started DJn & started taking notice, musically, of what was out there. Can you imagine the sound of Afrojack played in the club 5 years ago? And did we even know what ‘electro’ was back then, as we know it now? I feel it’s all evolved so fast! It’s hard to say who will be big for 2010, especially as there are so many sub-genres of house music to look at. At the moment I am enjoying Spencer & Hill, Laidback Luke & Afrojack, but to find obscure tunes produced by people I’ve never heard of is magic! Love it!

(P) I hear you’ve been dabbling with a bit of bootleggin’, how’s it all coming along and what software are you using?
(D) Ahaha to say ‘dabbling’ would be an exaggeration! I’m not the most technical girl when it comes to DJn/Producing. I am getting together with some friends & putting things together, learning & listening to their styles. When I am mucking around with tunes I use Ableton Live 8.

(P) Tips for up and coming dj’s/producers?
(D) If you love it, then GET AMONGST IT! Its like any industry, there are ups, downs & politics involved but its amazing!! Some of the producers now are so young & doing so well its mind-blowing! Anything is achievable. Also there are a lot of people out there to point you in the right direction, all you need to do is you ask.
Partypills (P) What sort of sound are you playing atm and have you noticed any progression as you become more experienced?
Im lucky with the residencies I have at the moment (The MET Brisbane, Birdee Numnums, Planet Nightclub, Limes Hotel Rooftop) they all require a slightly different variation on my house/electro style with a different crowd.

(P) Description of the mix you’ve so kindly included
(D) My latest mix was done for the Wellington Sevens after party at Maya Bar… you can decide the description

(P) Dream gig?
(D) Top of my list to date is the Wellington Sevens 2009 after party & as I type this am on the plane back to Wellington for the Sevens 2010 after party & hoping it will be more epiccc! I have Thailand coming up & my first Australian Festival Future Music 2010, then Sydney!!!!
Looking at doing a 3 week tour of NZ in June/July too. Dream gigs include, in no particular order… closing party Ibiza, private jet party…? Oh I don’t know… Im up for it all!!!
